FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
VANCOUVER, WA—Every so often music emerges that causes the listener to wonder, “Where did that come from? Who first heard it in their head? How did that person transfer it so seamlessly to something that others could enjoy and be inspired by?” OCDlove is that kind of pop music and is going to be the underdog this year, pitted against big-studio acts.
Literally years in the making, OCDlove carries on the tradition of truly inspired songs that marked the very best work of Seal, Peter Gabriel and the Duran Durans of the world. Now, OCDlove, known for their stunningly well-crafted, richly-layered acoustic/electric pop, debuts their 3-song EP offering from the upcoming album "Music From The Emotional Picture Soundtrack" as a download exclusive, with full, loving force.
You may already know OCDlove from increasing international Internet radio play. The bold sound is a cross between dreamy and groovy pop to airy and smooth blue-eyed soul. Downloads only of the EP will be available on I-Tunes, Rhapsody, CD Baby and dozens more.
While OCDlove is its own wave, it merges smoothly with the 'underground pop' music scene that is exploding with hook-laden songs. Each song is characterized by amazing melodies, complex and interweaving counter melodies, all the while being tied down to a steady bass and drum groove.
That melodic magic is in the soundscape that both Allen Russell, OCDlove’s songwriter, and his engineer/ co-producer Matt Jefferson, bring to the table. Jefferson’s own success as a TV composer helped bring the sound to its hi-fi state. It is music fitting for movie soundtracks and FM radio alike.
From the first song "I Made It Go Away" you'll be taken on a lovely journey, laced with gorgeous 12-string guitar, reminiscent of Kate Bush or the Dido. "Man On A Mission" would have fit into the last 3 Bond films, replete with a string orchestra soul patch of a chorus and choir ending. "Venus," the EPs final track evokes Sugar Ray, Led Zeppelin and Jamiroquai and is the EP’s funk/rocker.
It’s surprising to learn that all the instrumental and vocal tracks were created by a single musician: Allen Russell. It sounds very much like the way a full band would come across. The songs are meant to played at the acoustic level, with just guitar and voice, which is the crux of all OCDlove songs. Russell incorporates skilled musicianship on each track. Soft finger stylings and hypnotic acoustic guitar playing underscore the tapestry, while funk-hewn drums and under-the-radar bass guitar lock it in. A smoking hot and fun 5 piece band round out the live showcases they’ll be playing ‘round the globe.
